Pomona bowls – Hidden Jack
The Pomona green was the place to be on Wednesday when the men played the ladies in the Shirts and Skirts triples competition.
Thirty-six players were involved in the highly competitive, loudly supported event.
After the first game the ladies held a 17-shot lead over the men but, unfortunately, lost by 18 shots in the second game giving the men a win by one, leaving the ladies pondering “the one that got away”!
Ham Day is to be played on Wednesday 17 December, 9.30am start.
Cooroy Bowls – Julie Ainscough
JeLS is now leaders of the pack in the High Rollers Challenge after an exciting game between Bushrangers and Eumundi Boys.
The former team knocked the equal leaders off their perch by winning three points in the last end.
BAM also defeated the 101s convincingly so yet another leader dropped back to second place.
TAG Team, Rob and Co, Galahs and Royal Flush also had wins.
With only five more games to play it could be a very close race.
Tuesday Jackpot pairs winners Terence Charles and John McKechnie had a smashing +26 overall score.
The Business Bowlers had yet another exciting night of bowls on Wednesday night.
Bandido’s @ the Hub are the leaders with 26 points.
Belvedere is in second place with 24points while Harveys and Mutineers have 23 points to make them equal third.
Only six points separate the leaders from the last team showing the balance of competition between all players.
Last but not least, the Mixed Triples’ Champions for 2014 are Kennedy McGrath, Claire McGrath and Margaret Dawson.
Well done team and commiserations to Russell Butler, Maureen Bottomley and Brian Cunnington.
Noosa Heads Bowls – The Chalker
There’s plenty of bowls activity due at Noosa Heads.
Monday sees Noosa at home to Kawana in the Night Pennant series, with the team hoping for a return to form after last week’s 1-7 loss to neighbours at Tewantin.
Regular mens and ladies days are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday then, on Thursday, there is the all-day Laguna Mixed Medley with good prize money going to the top four teams after the pairs and fours matches.
Friday brings the ever popular Open Jackpot Pairs and on Saturday at 9am the final of the club Open Singles championship will be played.
Paul Rieck and Mel Hobbins will battle it out following their strong wins in the recent semis.
The ladies’ Consistency final was decided last Wednesday with Carol Coole taking the title over Val Bush.
The score was 101 points to 82.
Ross Ward and Col Bush combined to win Tuesday pairs with runners-up Bob King and David Deane.
Wednesday ladies went to Juleen Mayze and Phyl Bolton with Joan Laney and Judith Boakes next.
Ace lady bowlers Pat Teale and Verle McComb took out the Friday Jackpot Pairs from Bill Roberts and Nick Gelavis.
Monday sees the staging of the monthly Noosa Open 1500, for which a capacity field of 96 bowlers has entered.
TEWANTIN NOOSA BOWLS CLUB – Green Master
State Play Offs
Congratulations to Jenny Lonie and Robyn McAnelly for winning Club, District and Zone, therefore qualifying to compete in the State Pairs Final ‘play-offs’ where they were narrowly beaten.
Championship ‘Mixed’ Pairs was a worthy Final, decided in the last end with Clare Anderson and Eric Bolesworth beating Yvonne Ambrey and Nev Jones 17/16.
Night Pennant against neighbours Noosa Heads was an exciting event, with Tewantin winning on three rinks and with two rinks being draws.
A Friendship Day is due to be held with Noosa Heads on Saturday 8 November. Dress is mufti.

Winners were Connie Johnston, Joan Pyers and Heather Birt.
Runners up were Dot Imber, Beth Tolley and Pat Becker.

Wednesday Men’s Pairs
Winners were Loui Lloyd and Wayne Langham (26 1/2 pts), Pairs runners up Bryn Whitcome and Eric Bolesworth (23 1/2 pts), Triples winners were Hein Heinrich, Arnie Ping and Bernie Smith (21 pts) Jackpot $63 won by Teams Jaekel and Mulvogue.

Runners up were Chris Topliff, Kevin Pyers.
Jackpot: $175 was not won and carries over.
