THREE locals are on their way to New Zealand to tackle the 29th Trans-Tasman Mountain race at Mt Kawerau.
Having already conquered the Pomona King of the Mountain, school teachers Kim Beckinsale and Leslie Saunders will join personal trainer Bryce Hegarty in the New Zealand challenge.
Kicking off this Saturday, the trio have all competed in the Trans-Tasman race before, and are familiar with the gruelling task ahead, but they’re up for the challenge.
Pomona’s sister mountain race challenge has been running since 1985, with the best place getters representing their nation at the New Zealand race every year.
