Cooroy Golf Club had the good fortune of receiving a small grant from the Sunshine Coast, Burnett and District Women’s Golf Association to put on a Get Golfing Girls program to encourage more women to play golf.
The weather behaved itself beautifully while Women’s Captain, Shay, welcomed 22 women – who had either never played golf before or not played for a long time – to our friendly club.
The club’s resident coach Cyril took the women through the basics of golf, ably assisted by the girls in blue – members of the Women’s Golf Committee.
The session came to a very pleasant ending with morning tea and animated chatter in the club house.
Each of the participating women were presented with a cloth bag (cleverly produced by Carmel) containing information, golf ball and bits and pieces to help them in their new sport.
It was generally agreed that a good time was had by all and they would return for the next three weeks to complete the program.
