Dolphins have heart

By Hollie Harris

There’s something very special about seeing a team of gutsy blokes, jogging proudly onto the Grand Final pitch with a gaggle of excited 6yr olds. These are some of the same players who freely give up their time to mentor every Noosa Junior team. This Club has a big heart, and there’s never been a better time to be a Dolphin.Registration is now open, go to www.noosarugby.com.au and our Junior Season is looking crazy good. Sign-up goodie bags with hoodies, new canteen menu by the ‘Brazzo Boys’, keeping it fresh and local. Mid-Season sees the inaugural Junior Campout and our U14’s flying to NZ for their annual tour. Our girls competition will expand this year, and let us tell you – Noosa’s got some brilliant female athletes. The Junior gear shed has been proudly graffitied by talented artists from Sunshine Beach High School.
But what makes the Dolphins so special? It’s a feeling of being part of something worthwhile, the mateship and as John Kirkman said, “I often think Rugby is like life, you can have the ball in your hand and running down the field feeling unstoppable, then someone tackles you and you hit the deck and you’re vulnerable; you’re lying there exposed. Suddenly your team mates are there, not just over the ball but over you, protecting you. They’re prepared to put their bodies on the line for you. That’s what happens in life, you fall over and your mates come to your aid.” That’s our Dolphins.
