Mayor takes the heat

AFTER experiencing the blowtorch of politics during the recent council election campaign, Mayor Tony Wellington is facing up to some more heat next week – this time from his friends and colleagues.
On Sunday 19 June councillor Wellington will be ‘roasted’ by three of his colleagues at the Noosa Open Studios fun fundraising event – The Sunday Roast.
Roasters Deputy Mayor Frank Wilkie, Noosa Long Weekend Festival President Johanne Wright and long-term friend Michael Egan will be regaling The Sunday Roast attendees when they comically reveal the foibles of Tony’s personal and professional life.
When asked how he felt about being ‘skewered’ over the coals, Cr Wellington said he felt “like a sacrificial lamb”.
“I look forward to being served up as an offering to the God of Humility on Sunday,” he said.
To accompany the “braised politician with a dash of humour”, Sunday Roast attendees will also enjoy a two-course roast luncheon and have the opportunity to take home some great items in the silent auctions and surprise boxes containing accommodation vouchers from Noosa resorts such as Peppers, Sheraton, RACV Resort and Mantra French Quarter.
Noosa Open Studios president Chris Pritchard said she was looking forward to some fun with the last fundraising function prior to the main event in August.
“In addition to generous donations from our local businesses, the Noosa Open Studios artists and artisans have contributed some of their unique exceptional art and ceramic works for the silent auctions,” she said.
So don’t miss all the fun and head to Wallace House, Wallace Drive, Noosaville, on Sunday 19 June from noon.
Tickets are limited and available now for $35.
For further information or to book a seat call 0439 375 980 or email noosaopenstudios@gmail.com.
