A credit to the game

SPONSORS are vital for local sporting teams to get out there and do what they do best and the Cooroora United soccer club knows this better than anyone.
Thanks to a long-standing sponsorship deal with the Cooroy Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, the team has been able to play every week and can now add new training shirts to their kit.
Nearly 260 club members received a shirt, which will be worn by players each time they play home-and-away games.
Cooroora United president Tony McCarthy took the time to thank branch manager Geoff Edwards for the Community Bank’s long-term support of the club.
“We all know that sponsors play a key role in supporting a team and the Cooroy Community Bank branch sponsorship of Cooroora United is one of many who continue to help us playing the game we love,” Tony said.
“The bank has provided us with a lot of help on and off the field over the past five years and our club is on a real high right now.
“The players are working really hard at all age levels and it’s wonderful to see the results. To see so many of our teams out there enjoying their football on so many levels is terrific for all the volunteers who put so much time into Cooroora United.”
Bendigo Bank Cooroy branch manager Geoff Edwards said he was delighted to support the club for another season.
“Cooroora United is made up of special people who give so much of themselves and always seem to do it with a smile on their face. We see our sponsorship as a great fit and it was really special for me to be on-hand to present the new training shirts to some of the teams,” he said.
“It’s great that more locals are realising the banking they do with us makes sponsorships like this possible. Few banks list their key business strategy as working for the benefit of a community, but so it is with our Community Bank branches. I look forward to catching a few games in the lead up to the finals and we look forward to sponsoring Cooroora United again in 2015. Go the Wombats!”
