Cooroy fashion label Ella and Sunday will share the catwalk with some of Queensland’s top designers including Sacha Drake, George Wu and Pia Du Pradal at the 2017 Ekka’s Natural Fibres Fashion Parade.
A mother of four children, designer Rani Wilkinson was thrilled to be selected for the line-up which has already led to a boost in her sales.
Rani worked for years for other fashion designers from haute couture to mass production companies after studying fashion production in custom clothing in the 1990s at East Sydney Technical College.
It was only the summer of 2015 that she launched her own designs under the label Ella and Sunday.
Her classic designs and use of natural products caught the eye of the Queensland Show which invited her to join the Ekka’s much loved and long running Natural Fibre parades.
“The Ella and Sunday label was born from years of searching for beautiful clothes that can be worn everyday,” she said.
“As a mum of four, I’m always looking for fashion that is affordable and stylish – versatile pieces that can be worn to work, school drop off and dressed up and taken out on the town. My focus is on natural fibres, timeless styling, and to create the perfect fit for women of all shapes.”
“My experience in made-to-measure patternmaking and sewing has set the building blocks to create my collections.
New additions to the Ekka parades this year include a student design competition, an educational Fibre to Fashion conversation series, a Maker’s Market and dual runway.
