Active hunt

Kayaking is among sports selected for the program.

The call has gone out for sport and other recreation providers keen to partner with Noosa Council to deliver next year’s 12-week Get Out Get Active Program for young women.
Project officer Edwina Griffin said the council was looking to include a range of activities in the new program, which aimed to provide young women aged 18 to 24 with access to low-cost activities to help them stay active.
Ms Griffin said the council was looking for not-for-profit and commercial groups to provide yoga, stand-up paddle boarding, gym, boxing, group fitness (outdoor), pilates, kayaking and martial arts/self-defence.
The council compiled the list of activities based on a survey of young women interested in taking part in the 12-week program, which will begin in February next year.
The Queensland Government provided a $10,040 grant to the Noosa Get Out Get Active Program to get women and girls active for life. The council will contribute an additional $4950 to the program.
For more information email the council’s community development team on commdev@noosa.qld.gov.au for more information and an expression-of-interest form. Forms must be returned by September 15.
