Gardens will make dad’s day

What better place to enjoy Spring weather than at the Noosa Botanic Gardens on the banks of Lake Macdonald at Cooroy. Should you need an additional excuse to visit, why not grab dad and the kids and head out there on Father’s Day – Sunday 3 September.
Why Father’s Day? Keen gardeners already have this in their diary. It’s the annual Noosa Botanic Gardens Father’s Day Plant Fair. Now in its third year and supported by Noosa Council, this event attracts huge support from both the local Noosa community and the wider region.
“We have a fabulous array of speakers again this year,” Plant Fair event manager Jill Brownlee said.
“Author Leonie Shanahan will talk about organics, healthy living and gardening for children and share insights into making organic pest control products.
“Regular Plant Fair attendees will be delighted to hear John Green, multi-award winner of flowering orchids, who always has a huge audience to listen to his entertaining and informative presentation,” Jill said.
In addition to the speakers, there will be plenty of gardening experts available to inform and to sell often hard to find or unique plants under their individual marquees. Ones such as heliconia expert Maureen Simons who will have a range of edible and medicinal gingers as well as the popular landscape varieties.
Mark it in your diary now: Father’s Day, 3 September. Food and drinks are available or why not bring a picnic?
All nett proceeds from the plant fair are redirected back to supporting the Noosa Botanic Gardens.
