Something for all tastes

King Social plays this Friday 4 November at The V Room, Villa Noosa.

SUNSHINE Coast music lovers are set for a treat this week as The V Room plays host to acts from France, North Queensland and out West in their most expansive weekend offering to date.
The V Room, the latest Sunshine Coast live music spot operating inside the existing Villa Noosa Hotel, has hosted a wide range of acts since the September opening night including DZ Deathrays, The Backsliders featuring Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil, Groovin’ the Moo favourites Pandamic and Sydney rock act Lepers and Crooks among many others.
This week sees the popular new venue play host to international Dub Reggae DJ Naaman from France on Thursday night 3 November, popular FNQ city meets country band King Social, fresh off a Bigsound slot on Friday night 4 November and a special night of music celebrating the songs of Aussie icon Paul Kelly on Saturday night 5 November.
Performing this Friday night, the unlikely mates at the heart of King Social look like the stragglers at the worst ever UN Convention – there’s an ocker cowboy, a Greek hippy, a rapping Scottish/Aboriginal, a Fijian with an infectious smile, and – when his beard is in full-force – a lead guitarist who could easily be mistaken for Ned Kelly.
Performing with gusto and passion, King Social has amassed a cult following in its home stomping ground of North Queensland that is quickly catching across Australia.
Their live shows have been described as “electrifying” and “completely addictive”; and, like a siren’s song, frequently draw crowds in the thousands to be swept up in the good-time vibes that seep from King Social.
From the first song they’ll win you over with a masterful mix of urban rock and hip-hop, while still paying homage to their country roots.
Venue booker Christian Tryhorn of Beats Cartel said: “We’re trying to deliver a well-rounded program of music at The V Room week in week out, something to appeal to all tastes. This weekend is a perfect example of that. Pretty excited for the touring acts”.
The variety won’t stop for the rest of the year at the Noosa venue either with shows confirmed with acts such as OKA, Lagerstein, Mosh For Daniel a metal benefit gig for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, Owen Campbell and more.
