It’s down to absorption

You are what you absorb, according to naturopath Yolanda Falivene.

HAVE you heard the saying, “You are what you eat”?
Well, that’s not entirely accurate according to naturopath Yolanda Falivene who says more to the point, you are what you absorb.
“You may be eating a healthy diet but if your digestion is compromised, you may not be absorbing or activating the nutrients in your foods,” she said.
“Feeling tired? Experiencing wind or irregular movements? Feel full or bloated after eating? Any nausea or reflux? Chances are your digestive organs are not secreting the acid or enzymes to adequately break down your food. Or your gut flora is imbalanced, fermenting your food creating acidity.”
Yolanda said there were a myriad of causes including a bout of ‘gastro’ or a course of antibiotics that could cause imbalance.
“Feeling stressed? Stress can shut down your digestive system as part of the normal ‘flight or fight’ reaction,” she said.
“Indulging in the odd drink and takeaway, drinking tap water or too many coffees? These things as well as pesticides on food, garden and insect sprays can overload the liver and deposit in organs, decreasing enzyme production and healthy gut flora.
“Without enzymes and balanced flora, you will not be able to activate vitamins, minerals and proteins – the building blocks of our body tissues – and all that money spent on vitamins and a healthy diet is passing through you down the drain!”
Yolanda says, as a result, gut lining deteriorates and your immunity may be affected. Food intolerances may develop and you may become more susceptible to parasites or bacteria.
“At Noosaville Natural Health, we use modern equipment including the 3-D body scan to determine underlying causes so digestive problems need not cause you any more discomfort or embarrassment,” Yolanda said.
“With Bicom Bioresonance, food intolerances and effects of bacteria can be desensitised and compromised organs treated, facilitating your recovery to optimum health.”
Yolanda is available for appointments at the Noosaville Natural Health Centre, shop 203/90 Goodchap Street, Noosaville.
