Images to float in

THE next Noosa Regional Gallery exhibition will feature artworks and iconic images showcasing the past 14 years of Floating Land.
Opening on Saturday 29 August at 2pm, the exhibition marks the beginning of Floating Land 2015, which runs for seven weeks.
Local artists and those from as far away as Victoria and Western Australia have contributed original artworks, samples and images of their works for inclusion in the retrospective exhibition.
Noosa Regional Gallery director Nina Shadforth said she was delighted with the response to the call-out for the retrospective.
“Artists across Australia have sent us maquettes, video blogs and images of their work, allowing us to mount an exhibition which highlights the passion surrounding Floating Land,” Nina said.
Floating Land started as a conversation between artists about art in the environment, and the conversation continues in 2015.
Floating Land: Reflect and Re-imagine will reflect on the past and look to the future with artists and the community continuing the conversation about art in the environment.
Floating Land 2015 will feature art installations and workshops at Noosa Regional Gallery and the Tewantin and Boreen Point foreshores.
The Arts Program at Boreen Point, over the October long weekend, will be a special focus for this year’s event, featuring artists at work, large scale art installations, community workshops and roaming musicians.
The launch on Saturday 29 August is open to the public as council begins celebrating the partnership between Council, artists and the community.

Floating Land is a biennial art in the environment event and this year marks its eighth iteration to be held from 27 August to 18 October 2015. It is a festival, a conversation, it is art in the environment and an event for the whole family.
