Talking Touch

MONDAY’S mixed games saw some great touch action with Noosa Surf 8 getting the points with a win over Breakaway Marine 5 and Fumble That 14 well and truly holding the ball against Gotchas 1. In a close battle Bandits 8 just robbed Cruzers 7 of finishing on top at the final siren.
Reapers 9 just edged out RSL Cougars 7 and All Coast Roofing 10 had a strong win over Madills 5. Slippery Eels 8 accounted for CSR 4 even with the loss of star player Mick with what may be a season-ending injury. Atmosphere 7 ran away with the game over Good Shepherd 1, the end scoreline not reflecting the intensity of the game.
Keba 6 engineered a win this week over All Stars 4 who had previously been on a winning streak and Bee Man 8 stung Buccaneers 2 who are struggling with an ever-extending injury list. Cartwrights 8 out muscled Phantoms 2 whilst RSOR 12 had a big win over Good Shepherd Gold 2.

What a gorgeous afternoon we had to play touch footy before the setback of the Maroons loss last Wednesday but I’m sure we’ll beat the Blues in the second match! Blazers had a good win against Good Shepherd with Harley, Jake and Pedro having great games. Our own Maroons outlasted Cool Runnings in a highly entertaining match. Yuji, Levi and Roy gave strong performances for their teams. Parker, Ava and Alla had first rate games in the match-up between Purple Panthers and Twisters with Purple Panthers taking the win.
Steppers went down fighting to Saints in a battle of the boys with great play shown by Jack, Noah K and Leo. Banana Splits and Purple Storm both played well with Banana Splits being the eventual winners on the day. Tenay, Jamaica and Monique played well. That Cool Team came away with the points against Good Shepherd with Morgan, Millie and Bella producing good games.
Inferno just nudged out Sunshine Rebels with Harrison, Giverny and Tyla putting in mighty efforts. St Teresa’s Black went down to Good Shepherd, Jessica, Abby and Jaidyn were standouts in this game. NDSHS 9’s proved too strong for NDSHS 8’s Blue with Jemima, Keziah and Jerry-Lee showing great skill. In a close win SBSHS 16’s just managed to hold out NDSHS 8’s Green. Jessie, Abby and Ally played strongly.
A huge thanks to our junior referees, most of whom are very new to refereeing the game. A special thanks to Ryan Christensen who picked up a whistle despite feeling unwell and did a great job on an U10s game.
