World takes a look at Noosa

MORE than 40 women from around the world arrived by bus to take in the gorgeous views of Laguna Lookout this afternoon (23 September) as part of a Sunshine Coast tour group for older women.
Established in the 1980s, 5W stands for Women Welcome Women World Wide and is a friendship group that helps women who travel throughout the world to get to know each other.
With over 2500 members worldwide, the group enables women to experience other countries from a local host’s perspective, meaning members of 5W become both traveller and host.
The hosting can take place in several ways such as offering hospitality for a few days in their home or with an offer to show guests around local attractions or simply meeting for a coffee.
Some 42 travellers have taken part in this most recent group holiday that will see the 5W members travel from Brisbane to Noosa and then on to Port Douglas and Far North Queensland.
Member for Noosa Glen Elmes greeted the group as they arrived by bus to Laguna Lookout on Monday afternoon and welcomed them to the “best part of the world”.
Sunshine Coast tour organiser Marie Gracey said she wanted to showcase the best of the Sunshine Coast so a day trip to Noosa was a must.
5W member Theresa Aubuchon from the United States said she was enjoying her first visit to Australia.
“It’s taken a long time to get here,” she said. “But I’m enjoying it very much. I only wish I had longer.”
