Art in the open

DESPITE the heat and humidity of last Friday, over 150 people representing local Noosa region tourism, government, business, media, events and the arts community came together to officially launch the newest player on Noosa’s events calendar, Noosa Open Studios.
With the theme of Wearable Art, MC and Noosa councillor Frank Wilkie was in his element posing as a French artist complete with beret and a handsome moustache on his normally clean-shaven smiling face.
Thirty artists, sculptors and other artisans will be opening their studios to the public from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 August.
The central hub for the event will be Wallace House in Noosaville where art and creative works and interviews with participating artists will be on view.
A shuttle bus service is planned for pick up/drop offs at selected points throughout the Noosa region.
