TRAVELLING the world playing her favourite sport is not new for local 17-year-old Caitlin Bettenay but her next trip overseas is a bit of a big deal.
Cailtin is busy preparing to travel to Columbia as the youngest and only Queensland representative in the Australian Senior Volleyroos team.
Caitlin, who has been playing volleyball since she was 14, will head to Columbia to compete in the World Grand Prix with her team in June.
“It has been my goal since I finished school to make this team but I’ll keep pushing myself,” Caitlin said.
“I love the competitive edge of the sport and the physicality.
“This game really pushes you, there’s a great team environment and it really makes you a better person.”
The competitive team is sponsored nationally by Hello World and local store owner Clare O’Keeffe said she couldn’t be more proud to support such a local talent.
“We are very proud of Caitlin and love supporting and encouraging such amazing talent,” Ms O’Keeffe said.
