All roads lead to Cooroy

Last year's Australian Body Art Festival featured a Pop Art theme and was held in Eumundi.

MORE than 15,000 art lovers are expected to flock to Cooroy next year with the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce announcing they will welcome the Australian Body Art Festival to the vibrant Hinterland town.
The festival has been held in Eumundi for the last eight years, and celebrates art, the human body and creativity.
Last year, event organisers trialled a new concept for the event, but have since decided to offer the operation of the festival to the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce.
Cooroy Chamber of Commerce president Danielle Taylor said there won’t be an event for 2016 but the Cooroy Chamber of Commerce will run the festival in Cooroy for the first time in 2017.
A date is yet to be announced, but Ms Taylor said the Australian Body Art Festival was in the process of moving to Cooroy.
“The Firefly Solutions team that ran the event until 2014 has agreed to come back on board as event managers. The news has been warmly received by volunteers, artists and models,” she said.
“The aim is to start back at grassroots, and our first step will be to talk to the body artists about what their preferences are for dates, themes, judging, prizes, and so on. So stay tuned for more exciting updates in coming months.”
In the meantime, anyone interested in the event are welcome to register for the newsletter at www.australianbodyart.com.au and follow the Australian Body Art Festival Facebook page for updates.
