SYMPHONY lovers will be thrilled that the Noosa Music Society proudly presents The Orava String Quartet on Sunday 25 September at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Centre.
Considered one of the most exciting string quartets of its generation, they will play Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 1 in F Major, Schulhoff’s String Quartet No. 1 and Tchaikovsky’s -String Quartet No. 1 in D Major.
The Orava Quartet was founded in Sydney in 2007 at the Conservatorium of Music, and is made up of Daniel Kowalik (violin), Karol Kowalik (cello), Thomas Chawner (viola) and David Dalseno (violin).
Known for their passionate performances, they have been hailed as: “in terms of the future of Australian Chamber Music, the real deal.”
The quartet has been based in Brisbane since late-2014, as the quartet-in-residence with the Camerata of St John’s.
Since their return to Australia, following extensive tours across the USA between 2012 and 2014, major events have included the Musica Viva Festival, Melbourne Festival, Australian Festival of Chamber Music, and Huntington Estate Festival.
This year the quartet looks forward to a busy schedule of concerts around the country, highlights of which include performances at the Brisbane Baroque Festival, Huntington Estate Festival and 4MBS Music Festival, as well as a series of concerts at the University of Queensland and a visit to Noosa.
