MANY locals may not realise that when it comes to health and well-being, the Noosa Leisure Centre is home to a selection of practitioners and health solutions and this month, men are the focus.
November is the month that men grow-a-mo-for-a-bro as part of a global and local movement to support men’s health with Movember and at Noosa Yoga School, men can try a yoga or meditation class for free until the end of November.
Owner/director Marina Noar can’t grow a mo but she knows from first-hand experience what happens when a man is hurt or unhealthy.
When her husband broke his neck in 2007 he was left paralysed with a spinal cord injury and a long journey ahead to rehabilitate.
Yoga brought relief for pain and restoration and well-being for them both and he was eventually able to return to walking.
“The nervous system is a nebulous part of our anatomy,” Marina said.
“Practising yoga harnesses the physical, emotional and mental factors affecting the nervous system. It enables people to feel good every day. Yoga is particularly good for men because it is empowering and reduces stress. It increases energy, focus, strength and flexibility,” she said.
Situated on the ground floor of Noosa Leisure Centre, Noosa Yoga School provides over 23 weekly classes and this month is perfect for the blokes to get in and try something highly beneficial to mind and body.
The Leisure Centre is also home to an upstairs clinic with an experienced naturopath, a myotherapist, massage therapists and a polarity therapist.
