Tapping into the ageing market

By Margaret Maccoll

Businesses wanting to attract the growing disability and ageing market should head to the free Inclusive Tourism and Community Planning forum on Wednesday 7 June at the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC).
The forum will highlight how small changes in design can improve accessibility to increase access to visitors and residents.
With one in five Queenslanders having a disability, the breakfast meeting will discuss this emerging tourism demographic and how best to capture their business on the Sunshine Coast.
Associate director Urban Design at Diecke Richards Phil Smith will be MC.
Forum guest speakers include Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO Daniel Gschwind, Commissioner of the Anti-Discrimination Commission Queensland Kevin Cocks, USC Regional and Urban Planning Associate Professor Dr Claudia Baldwin and Dr Lisa Stafford from the Centre for Universal Design Australia and QUT.
The event at USC’s Innovation Centre, 90 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs will include a tourism breakfast from 7-9am followed by a workshop from 9.30am-noon. To book, visit the what’s on calendar via council’s website or by phone 5475 7272.
