Nathanael Ford bows out of election race

The race is far from over but some Noosa candidates have already called it quits.Candidate Nathanael Ford thanked his supporters for giving him a shot in a Facebook post.

“Considering I had no ‘war chest’, received no donations, chose not to use road side signs and ran a gentleman’s campaign, I still think I went well,” Mr Ford said.

“Based on the spread of votes from booths it’s clear the hinterland want representation.”

So far Ford has 2.41 per cent of votes, putting him bottom of the leader board.

Only 26.07 per cent of overall votes have been counted for the councillor candidates, but it is safe to assume that the front runners will keep their positions.

Incumbents Frank Wilkie (7.33%) and Brian Stockwell (7.38%) are the top of the leader board.

Not far behind them is Karen Finzel on 6.5 per cent, Amelia Lorentson on 6.37 per cent, Tom Wegener on 6.34 per cent and Phil Moran on 6.31 per cent.

Women appear to be breaking the ‘Noosa Council’s Boy Club’ so far, but it is early days and is anyone’s race at this point.Noosa Today will continue to maintain current updates on the election.
