A NATIONAL campaign to find a new name and brand for the former Ettamogah Pub could be one option for the future of the iconic building.
Aussie World general manager David Thompson said he wanted to assure Noosa residents and visitors that the pub at Palmview will remain and the only thing to go is the name.
Mr Thompson said media reports had exaggerated the situation and speculation that the building could be demolished was “simply false”.
Mr Thompson said the pub would remain and Aussie World would continue to play a crucial role in the Sunshine Coast experience.
However, the once considered iconic name and brand, which was created by the late cartoonist Ken Maynard was no longer a brand the company could use due to building extensions and alterations.
“We are focused on creating a bigger and better experience for locals and visitors to the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Thompson said.
“That includes building on the foundations of the facility and renaming the pub.”
Aussie World had recently spent $172,000 renovating its mini-golf course and invested $72,000 in upgrading the sideshow alley.
Mr Thompson hinted at a possibility of running a national campaign to find the right name for one of Australia’s most recognised pubs.
“That’s one possible way, but we’re looking at several options,” he said.
