Anxious butterflies are all a flutter

It will be a nervous wait for local charity Sunshine Butterflies as members head to Sydney to find out whether they will share in the Dick Smith $1 million giveaway.
Thirty-seven charities from around Australia will share in $500,000 but Sunshine Butterflies is hoping to come home with one of the $50,000 cheques.
The competition ran from July to December last year and required charities to send in photographs of people holding Dick Smith products.
Sunshine Butterflies founder Leanne Walsh said the charity was in the lead until December after which the entrants were listed in alphabetical order to not give away the results.
“From the 19 December the list was put in alphabetical order, so we are unaware if we remained in first place or not,” she said.
“We noticed third and fourth placed entrants came from nowhere so, yes, we are very nervous as the count continued and anyone could have taken our place.”
Sunshine Butterflies has recently bought a hobby farm to extend its services to animal care therapy and horticultural therapy.
Leanne said everyone has their fingers crossed as they wait for the cheque presentation on 18 February at Martin Place, Sydney.
“We could do with the money,” she said.
The top two charities with the most photos submitted will take home $50,000 each in what is the final round of the $1 million charity giveaway.
To date, Dick Smith has given away $6.5 million to charities and Leanne is hoping Sunshine Butterflies is next in line.
