Fins deliver the goods

By LUCY WHITEHALL

Noosa Dolphins
Under 6: The U6 team played two games this week. One against Caloundra and the other against Brothers. The teamwork skills are coming along more and more with the sharing and passing of the ball. We had sensational play from Jacob this week. He was speeding down those sidelines in both games. Well done boys!
Under 7: The U7 Noosa Fins defeated Maroocydore 60-50. Uli took the kick off to start this week’s game against a fired up Maroochydore team. The pace was fast and the determination from both sides was evident throughout, however the opposition were pipped at the final post by the Noosa speedsters who just could not be caught and took every opportunity presented to them to get past the tight Maroochydore defence. Player of the match went to Uli Visser.
Under 8: The U8 Noosa fins defeated University 45-35 in what was a big game for the Fins. Some fiery preparation from Mike and Sam had the boys canter out fully prepared to set the record straight. Rory McIntyre opened up with some fine running, and again with team-mate George White combined beautifully with a ‘pop’ off load to George who crossed for the first of his many to get the points ticking. Jaxon Peermamode again proved his worth as a ball runner with a strong run on the wing, using the fend until being dragged to the ground with the pistons still pumping.
Under 8: The Noosa Reds defeated St Andrews 80-15. After last week’s close defeat the Reds were highly motivated to put a tick in the win column this Saturday, and they did. A true team effort produced a flurry of tries and most pleasing for the coaching panel a strong defensive game built on bootlace tackling. Credit needs to be given to a youthful St Andrews side who never gave up trying and tackled to the final whistle. Player of the match went to Alfie Griffen.
Under 10: The Noosa Fins defeated St Andrews 36-5. Captain Joch tore up the wing in support of the centres all game and when ball was in hand, he weaved forward to make big ground on St Andrews and pulled off a try. Player of the match went to Angus.
Under 10: The Noosa Blacks played Caloundra Lighthouse when the U10s travelled down the highway to Sunny Coast Grammar this week, to play a team that’s scored some great wins this season. It was a gallant early morning effort. Zac followed up last week’s game with a solid performance, making some important tackles. Jude was carried off the ground due to an injury during the game, but he made his presence felt.
Under 11: The Noosa Fins defeated Flinders 90-nil in what was a great effort from the boys this week again built on great teamwork. The forwards were unrelenting at the breakdown, denying Flinders any ball. The backs showed impressive ball movement and speed, sharing the tries among them. A great game from the on-fire Fins.
Under 11: The Noosa Reds went down to St Andrews in a 45-nil game. It was a hard day for the Reds this week as St Andrew’s bounced back to form. After the Reds dominated the first 10 minutes, St Andrews scored against the run of play. After that, the speed and skills of the St Andrew’s backs dominated. The Reds have had a few hard weeks recently but are close to returning to winning form.
