WOULD you like to be part of the Glossy Black Cockatoo Birding Day on Sunday 19 October?
One day per year, from the hinterland to the coast, volunteers identify and survey local glossy black cockatoos, a species that is listed as “vulnerable”. A training session will be conducted on Friday 10 October from 1-2pm at the Noosa Council Chambers.

March for majestic beasts
A MARCH for elephants and rhinos will take place in Eumundi at the Pavillion market this Saturday 4 October from 9.30am.
The march is a global initiative to highlight the savage plight of both elephants and rhinos that are killed every 15 minutes.
“Elephants are being poached faster than they produce baby elephants,” said organiser Chris Sarjeant.
“The Western black rhino is already extinct..there is no reverse button to extinction.”

Stunning Chinese exhibits
The influence of Chinese culture and motifs shine through two new stunning exhibitions at Noosa Regional Gallery from 9 October through to 23 November 2014.
Traces of China, by Yeats and Rick Gruin is a rich and engaging joint exhibition of unique, masterful ceramics by Chinese-Australian artist, Yeats Gruin alongside large expressionist paintings by artist and partner Rick Gruin.
Members of the community are welcome to attend the official launches of the Traces of China and the Thousand Rolls of Batik exhibitions at the Noosa Regional Gallery, on Friday 10 October at 6pm. Special guest speaker Rowley Drysdale, artist/lecturer will officially open Traces of China and the Thousand Rolls of Batik exhibitions.

Interactive giant tablet
Cooroy Library has opened its doors for anyone to try the new and exciting smart table.
This great piece of technological brilliance is an interactive tabletop that can download apps and works as a giant tablet.
The table has a 32 multi-touch capability and is ready with downloaded jigsaws, games, drum sets and other amazing apps for the public to have a play.
The smart table was funded by the Queensland Government through State Library of Queensland’s Technology Trendsetters program.
