Young Dragons breathe fire

By CLARE ASKEW

THEY have arrived with a hiss and a roar – the Eumundi Dragons under-10s have found their mojo and a defined rugby style. In easily their most complete and ruthless performance yet, the mighty under-10s defeated Noosa Fins 27 -24.
After adopting a new style of play during the week, the Dragons dug deep to hang on to a tough but sweet victory in the Maleny high country.
The outsized Dragons hit the rucks with a new found resolve hassling and beating the bigger Noosa pack. Our tough as teak scavengers Jedd, Jack G. and Griffo continuously turned over Noosa’s ball, giving our pacey outside backs Steele, Will, and Saxon plenty of space to impress with their speed and quick stepping. The forwards played as a tight unit with Charlie, Zen, Horse and Ayden M. making several blockbusting runs. Led by the solid defence of Jack H. time and time again, the Dragons repelled a determined Noosa side from their line.
A huge congratulations goes to captain of the day Lachie Back and man-of-the-match Zane Swinkles who scored two tries apiece and both played exceptionally well.
We welcomed two new players in Coco and Floyd who are only going to strengthen our side.
All in all it was a magnificent performance.
The boys will need to build on this and add a passing game to their good play to compete with a powerful Brothers unit at Peregian Springs this coming weekend.
