Aligning with health

CHIROPRACTORS are known for their adjustments of the spine, but many people are unaware that some have completed additional specialised training to perform very specific cranial adjustments to the skull and jaw.
Dr Mimi of Noosa Chiropractic shares her tips for anyone who suffers from headaches, jaw pain or sinus issues.
When there is misalignment of the skull it can put slight pressure on different areas of the brain, contributing to concentration issues, dyslexia, headaches, tinnitus, distorted vision, speech and hearing problems and hyperactivity.
Chiropractic adjustments of the cranial bones can often help to relieve this pressure.
In babies and infants, particularly if their birth was prolonged or required intervention such as forceps or caesarean, there can be interference to the nerves surrounding the skull and brain. This may affect the cranial nerves resulting in difficulty breastfeeding, particularly latching and swallowing effectively.
It is important to remember that 65 per cent of neurological development occurs in a child’s first year.
It makes sense to ensure a baby has their spine and cranial bones checked to maximise nerve function during this developmental period.
Pain or a clicking noise when opening and closing the mouth or increased pressure on the sinuses can be the result of misalignment of the jaw (or TMJ).
Chiropractic cranial adjustments can help relieve this tension on the jaw and associated complaints such as headaches from clenching. Sinus pain and infections are often exacerbated by poor cranial movement and chiropractors are trained to assess and provide gentle adjustments to the skull to relieve this.
If you think cranial adjustments may benefit you, speak to Dr Mimi or Dr Neil at Noosa Chiropractic on 5449 9122.
