Over the last week, and with finals on last Sunday the Noosa Surf Board Riders were ecstatic with the very successful results from all the juniors who competed recently in the Queensland School State titles held at Coolum.
Cooper Davies, 17, of St Andrews Anglican College won the prestigious U19s Boys’ Event over some of Australia’s top Junior surfers.
Noosa Surf Board Riders president Paul Peterson said previous winners of this elite event had been World Champions Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson.
“His performance throughout the event was impeccable and he deserved the win with his gutsy determination, supported by his coach Dean Brady,” he said.
To complement the many trophies, Emily Lethbridge, also of St Andrews, was runner-up in the closely fought-out final of the U19 girls’ event.
Georgia Lorentson of St Andrews was a member of the winning Mark Richards Shield U19 girls team.
All of the surfers are now destined for the Australian titles to be held at Culburra Beach/Shoalhaven, NSW in late November 2017.
“We are so proud of all and every one of our juniors that compete – our groms are destined for continued success,” Paul said.
