NOOSA DOLPHINS
THE under-7 Reds dished out a disciplined display of frenetic footy in round six this week, but the Caloundra Lighthouses gave as well as they took and proved worthy opponents.
Conor’s man of the match award was earned through relentless defensive pressure. Noah played his best game this season while Harry ran in a few trademark corner tries. Sarena and Will were menacing with ball in hand and Zac’s well-timed offloads continue to baffle the opposition. Special thanks to Gusso who put in 60 minutes of rugby on Saturday.
Under-7 Reds 45 drew Caloundra 45.
Best: Conor Thomas.
The under-7 Fins game started off with Rory making a great run and passing the ball at the last moment to George White to allow him to go in for our first try against the Grammar Greens. Our second try came from Angus with great support from Phoenix, Stirling and Campbell. With great running and tagging from Charlie he certainly saved the opposition from scoring too many points. To finish off the last seconds in the first half, Rory landed over the try line.
In the second half Harry set up an amazing try for George with great speed and passing. Rory and George both went in for another try to finish off the game.
Under-7 Fins 30 d Grammar Greens 20.
Best: George White.
In the under-9 Fins, Saatchan displayed textbook tackle defending and strong straight bursts going forward. Louie, Tyler and Zac menaced Caloundra Yellow, ripping and running straight, finding open space and backing up with ball security.
Joch, Byron and Odette received good passes out wide then accelerated forward with speed and also did their part getting in to get the ball out. Much improved drive over when first to the breakdown also.
Welcome to new player Jack who played really well in his first game of rugby.
Caloundra Yellow 35 d Under-9 Fins 10.
Best: Saatchan.
In a game where players were mixed and matched to suit the conditions, Noosa under-10 Fins proved to be very competitive in all aspects of the contest against Reds.
After a gripping first five minutes, Flynn managed to score a superb long-range try. The opposition hit back with some crafty footwork by “Mr Foot Speed” Andrew.
Mack struck back with a determined try of his own but Andrew levelled the encounter with another classic.
Special thank you to our club manager Sam Forrest for organising the after-match treats, our music man DJ Cam Porter-in-da-house and our film director Nigel Webster.
Under-10 Fins drew Reds.
Best: Andrew Doyle and Flynn Charman.
In this top of the ladder clash, the under-11 Fins suffered their only defeat so far this season, in a match where everything that could go against them, did. Caloundra was too good on the day, taking full advantage of the opportunity to make it count. Unfamiliar to losing, Noosa remained competitive to the end and will come back stronger from this experience.
Caloundra 40 d under-11 Fins 14.
Try scorers: Jarrah Charlesworth, Noa Penitani.
Conversions: Jarrah Charlesworth 2.
Best: James Gelling.
