Peregian Beach foodies dropped by White’s IGA last week to investigate the supermarket’s locavore market.
Locavores make the effort to eat food that is locally grown, raised or produced.
White’s IGA brought together some local producers including The Bee Man, Pioneer Coffee and Lion Cheese to meet customers, share some samples and chat about their produce.
Store owner Roz White said the event aimed to encourage customers to source food locally.
“The Sunshine Coast has a thriving local food scene and White’s IGA stores are proud to be a part of it. It makes perfect sense to showcase some of our fantastic local produce and suppliers in a setting that enables our customers to touch, feel and taste what they are buying.”
Roz said she expected the monthly event to grow as more locals join the locavore movement.
