Forum boost for tourism

TOURISM Noosa and Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd are preparing the ultimate welcome for over 300 delegates, who are in the region for the Destination Q Forum next week.
The two tourism bodies have joined forces to present the Sunset on the Sand welcome event, where local producers, including Noosa Red Tomatoes, Gympie Goat’s Cheese and Mooloolaba King Prawns, will showcase their products.
The Destination Q Forum is expected to provide both an immediate and long-term boost to the local and Sunshine Coast economy.
SCDL CEO Simon Ambrose said the event would not only bring together Government, industry leaders and operators to focus on the state’s tourism sector, but it would also provide an opportunity to highlight the Noosa and Sunshine Coast region.
“Our key priority has been to showcase the fact that the Sunshine Coast offers a rich and diverse range of tourism experiences that go well beyond our superb beaches,” he said.
“Local operators throughout the region have gone out of their way to offer exciting pre and post touring options for delegates to allow them to really appreciate the strength of our tourism offer.”
Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham thanked the Queensland Government for choosing Noosa to stage the Destination Q 2014 Forum and said the welcome mat was out throughout the region to greet delegates attending the state’s premier annual tourism gathering.
“We are all very excited about welcoming the Premier, Queensland Ministers and the Queensland Tourism Industry as we kick off this year’s event watching sunset from Noosa Main Beach with the backdrop of Noosa National Park,” Mr Massingham said.
The two-day forum will be held jointly at the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa and the Outrigger Little Hastings Street Resort and Spa.
