Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club provides quite a spectacle for locals and tourists alike with its strong fleet of yachts racing weekly on the Noosa River.
Over the next week, the club has some fun events to look out for in addition to its regular racing program.
On Saturday 16 December there will be the Wombat Cup, a two-race event with spinnakers.
On Wednesday 20 December the Vagabond World Championships (Noosa style) will showcase its sailors dressed as pirates with a Christmas twist.
Club spokeswoman Elaine Williams said it was quite funny watching fully grown adults in fancy dress racing their hardest around the course in the small sailing boats called vagabonds. The race is run out the front of the yacht club.
“It’s always a lot of fun,” she said.
