Musical Twang at RSL

LOCAL band Twang has burst on to the rockabilly scene with exuberance, excitement and ability that is literally sweeping people off their feet.
Though relatively new to the scene, Twang has a rich rockabilly pedigree in the line-up.
Tim Collett on slap bass and vocals is the founding and ongoing member of iconic Australian rockabilly act, The Convertibles. Tim’s long association with the rockabilly genre has forged a rhythmic, percussive, solid, titillating slap bass style and has been a mentor to many upcoming enthusiasts.
Dean Kendal on drums and vocals was also a founding member of another iconic Queensland rockabilly act, The Shakin’ Quavers, as well as performing a long stint with The Convertibles.
On vocals and acoustics is multi-award winning country music performer, Maree Gwynne, who at one time in her early career shared honours with the likes of Keith Urban.
Maree’s big voice and upbeat boppy, sassy on-stage persona channels memories of rockabilly queens like Wanda Jackson and Janice Martin.
Last but not least, on lead guitar and vocals is Dan Fargo, an in-demand performer who’s vocal and picking skills are much acclaimed.
His past stints with roots, blues, rock and country acts have helped Dan reinforce and develop his own unique rockabilly guitar style.
Twang has the ability to impress the long-time rockabilly enthusiast or infect someone just experiencing the music form for the first time.
You can catch Twang at Tewantin Noosa RSL for free, this Saturday night from 8pm.
Phone 5447 1766 for dinner and courtesy bus reservations.
