CHILDREN in need have a reason to smile thanks to local businesses that supported the annual Smile for a Child John Piercy Memorial golf day at Tewantin Noosa Golf Club.
Held in September, over $19,000 was raised at the golf day, which is a joint initiative of six local clubs; Sunshine Beach Surf Club, Noosa Heads Surf Club, Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club, Tewantin Noosa RSL, Tewantin Noosa Golf Club and Cooroy RSL.
In partnership with Clubs QLD and Smile for a Child, the local clubs were proud to present cheques to local charities, last month.
The recipients were the Startlight Foundation, Sunny Kids and Frankie-Lee Shaw, who all received cheques for $5000, plus a $4000 donation to the Noosa Navy Cadets.
The golf day was a great success for local charities and is part of the $244,000 that has been raised by Smile for a Child since being established in 2007.
