All in for birthday splash

THE Pomona Community Pool turned 30 this summer and members of the Pomona Swimming Club got wet to celebrate the occasion.
An action packed mini-meet for all term one swimmers took place, celebrating the levels of swimmers ranging in all levels of competence.
Pomona Swim School manager Carmen Heisrath said a lot of hard work had been put in by the students and said the afternoon on 26 March was about celebrating those who simply love the water.
“Our event clearly highlighted the fun and enjoyment the students get out of the swimming program while learning to swim,” she said.
Ms Heisrath said, as well as all the volunteers and families who took part in the event, Geoff Edwards from Bendigo Bank was a great help and thanked him for all his support.
“He’s a patron at the Pomona Pool and jumped at the opportunity to help me when I approached him,” she said.
Mr Edwards provided the marquee for the event and sponsored the $50 Gold Rush event.
Ms Heisrath said the aim of the day was for the kids to have fun and give swimming a go.
“From the feedback, it sounds like that was achieved,” she said.
Volunteers are already working towards the Pomona Pool operating a Swim Club for the 2016 season.
