The Eclipse on Wednesday night provided a wonderful backdrop for Business Bowls. The full green of players enjoyed the distraction of the Red Moon, while having a lot of fun.
Thursday night High Rollers’ challenge saw four of the top teams playing each other. Eumundi Boys proved to be too strong for 101’s breaking their winning streak and making a leader board of four with BAM and Kybong Kids very close behind.
The Thursday Sponsors Day was yet again well attended with a full green of players. Bettina Winkler and Rick Sorrensen were overall winners, while Russell Butler and Walter Horn were runners-up.
Tuesday Jackpot Pairs was won convincingly by Russell Butler and his partner in crime, Brian Cunnington.
The Mixed Triples final was postponed due to one of the players having another engagement. They will be played this week. – Julie Ainscough
Pomona Bowls
Pomona bowlers were out in force this week to support the competitions being run before the green closes at the end of the month. Neilson’s Triples on Wednesday saw Sam Hands, Marie Robertson and Mel Hobbins take home the big bucks with runners-up Sheena Millar, Judy Muir and Bettina Winkler.
Twilight bowls on Friday, where social players are welcome, was won by Ann Lerch & Bob Andrews with r/up Ann Carruthers and Bill Alford.
Ausroads sponsored day on Saturday was won by Mark Edwards, Pick Goulding and Greg Hodder with runners-up Col Carruthers, Desley O’Neill and Fay Beadnell.

Noosa Heads Bowls
The club’s mixed fours championship was finalised on Saturday with David Deane’s team having a dominant win over Mal Lloyd’s group. Deane was joined by Ron Wallish, Marie McCall and Gill Macdonald to take the 2014 title. The Open Singles comes next, with entries now open.
The October Noosa 1500 was taken out by “Mr Taylor Bowls”, Danny Keating, who teamed with John Heriot. Mel Hobbins and Laurie Axiak were runners-up, with winners of the first-round losers pool Scott Roney and Ian Ramsden. The next of these popular events is set down for Monday 3 November.
Tuesday men’s pairs went to Paul Rieck and Geoff Davis, with second prize going to Niven Gugich and Terry O’Neill. Wednesday ladies winners were Carol Coole and Phyl Bolton. Alan Pearson teamed up with Daphne Reed to win the Friday Jackpot Pairs from Steve Currie and Paul Baker. Saturday triples went to Fabio Cantori, Heather Rider and Clive Mudgeway. The pairs winners were Stewart Black and Ralphe Rickman.
District Night Pennant season is underway with Noosa Heads having its first match this Thursday at home against Pacific Paradise. – The Chalker
