NOOSA Council is now making it even easier to have your say with a trial of information pop-ups at local libraries and the mobile library.
Council will be trialling the information pop-ups to give residents another way to comment on major council projects.
Residents already have their say via the online Your Say Noosa website, via email and through mail, but council hopes the information pop-ups will be a useful way to reach residents who aren’t online or just prefer to have a chat.
Noosa Council community engagement manager Debra Bambrook said the pop-ups would provide information, and when they are manned, residents will be able to ask questions that can be answered by council officers and councillors.
Pop-ups for council’s Draft Koala Conservation Plan, which is already open, and the Draft Noosa Transport Plan pop-ups, which opens on 25 May, are expected to be busy.
Council’s principal environment officer Peter Milne said there would be a special appearance at the pop-ups.
“One of the University of the Sunshine Coast’s koala tracking dogs will make special guest appearances at all the Noosaville and Cooroy library pop-ups,” he said.
Through the pop-ups, residents can view draft plans, talk to council officers and councillors and provide input in a variety of ways, including filling out a feedback form; using a library computer to comment via council’s Your Say Noosa website; typing directly into Your Say Noosa using their own tablet or mobile phone; and talking to a council officer when the pop-up is manned.
The Draft Koala Conservation Plan pop-ups are open at all libraries from now until 10 June with council officers, koala tracking dog and councillors (when available) on hand at Noosaville Library on Tuesday 24 May from 10 am – noon and Cooroy Library on Thursday 19 May from 10am – noon and Thursday 2 June from 2pm – 4pm.
The Draft Noosa Transport Plan pop-ups are open at all libraries from 25 May. Council officers and councillors (when available) will be at the pop-ups on Tuesday 31 May at Cooroy Library, on Wednesday 1 June at Noosaville Library between 10am and noon and at the Noosa Leisure Centre on Saturday 4 June between 8am and noon.
All council projects that are open for comment and input can be found at Council’s Your Say Noosa website, www.yoursay.noosa.qld.gov.au
