French, Clarke overall winners

SPONSORS Day this month was kindly supported by Belvedere News in Cooroy. Ben French and John Clarke were overall winners with Bevan Mahoney and Doug Allisone as runners-up.
Tuesday Jackpot Pairs afternoon was successful yet again with a good roll up of players. Terence Charles and Peter Desbrow took home the prize money.
The Business Bowls challenge saw 14 teams enthusiastically compete against each other on Wednesday night. Bandido’s @The Hub, Bonnells, CSR, Jacobson’s Enterprise, Pages and Thunderbirds all had a win. Treble Clefs and Mutineers drew their game.
In the High Rollers challenge on Thursday night, JeLS, Eumundi Boys, 101’s, BAM, Kybong Kids, TAG Team and Cormorants were winners.
The final championships rounds will be played over the next couple of weekends, completing the year of fun and challenge.

Pomona
Neilson’s sponsored triples day was a great success once again and won by O Mackellar, V. O’Connor and M. Hobbins with runner-up R. Roebuck, S. Foale and D. Mallett.
Twilight bowls saw J. Blackwell and P. Gray-Spence take home the big money with runner-up R. Schutt and B. Andrews.
The men’s pennant team had a surprise win against Rainbow Beach who were lying top of the log, and had in fact, already won the Div 1 pennant. Pomona won two rinks for a final score of 68-47. – Hidden Jack
Noosa Heads
It was a busy final week of men’s pennant competition for Noosa Heads bowlers. On Saturday the Div.1 side had a satisfying win over old rivals Tewantin, but went down to Kawana on Sunday afternoon.
Div. 3 played a weather make-up match against Caloundra on Sunday but the competition leaders proved too strong, scoring on two of the three rinks.
Div.6 played Pelican Waters twice on the weekend but lost both home and away encounters.
Brian Ford and Andrew McCall took the Tuesday pairs prize over Geoff Lewis and Ric McDonald.
Ladies
Pairs on Wednesday saw a win to Carol Studley and Julie Boyer, with the next highest margin posted by Sophie Gale and Phyl Bolton.
Friday Open Jackpot pairs again attracted a big field with the winners prize going to Steve Bowie and Mel Hobbins. Terry O’Neill and Niven Gugich were runners-up. Saturday triples winners were Margaret King, Sophie Gale and David Nimmo.
More players are being sought for the annual Laguna Ladies All-Star fours, to be played on Thursday 2 October. Bowlers should have won a club championship at some time. This event is quite famous for the great array of exotic desserts provided, and consumed, by the bowlers who come from all over the coast. – The Chalker
Tewantin Noosa
Congratulations to our Div 2 Ladies who took on Pelican Waters in the pennant final. Pelican waters were also minor premiers of Div 2. The final score was Tewantin Noosa 57 d Pelican Waters 36. Congratulations to other Ladies divisions with all doing well in the competition as well.
Tuesday 9 September:
Noosa Discount Drug Store Nominated Triples. Winners: Jenny Lonie, Marlene Trembath and Mary Ross. Runners-up: Joan Pyers, Malley Jane and Marg Dunstan.
Wednesday 10 September: Noosa Discount Drug Store Men’s Bowls: Winners: Ken Johannesen and Daryl Birt (2 wins +17) Runners up: Larry Wilkinson and Bill Jones (1 win +9).
Triples winners: Rick McDonald, Snow Jocelyn and Jim McDonald. Jackpot $270 was won by Chappel and Simmonds Teams.
Friday 12 September: Laguna Estate Open Triples: Winners: Rhonda McKenzie, Frank Kelly and Alby Campbell. Runners-up; Pat Whyte, Nat McAully and John Dawson. The Margin Jackpot was not won so carries over.
Mens Pennants
Div 1 Noosa Heads 61 d Tewantin Noosa 54. Div 3.1 Tewantin Noosa 2-72 d Mooloolaba 1-55. Div 5 Tewantin Noosa 1-63 d Coolum Beach 1-54 (1 rink drawn). Div 6 Tewantin Noosa 2-44 d Caloundra 0-33. here was only two results available. Div 3.1 Pacific Paradise 1-72 d Tewantin 1-58 with one rink drawn 22 all.
Div 6 Tewantin 1-42 d Headland 1-27.
Div 1 also were playing Sunday 14 September vs Caloundra. Results will be published in next week’s report. – Heath Costello
