Noosa not just surf-able

The thrill of catching a wave with the warm sun on your face and the beautiful Noosa landscape around you is an experience enjoyed by many, but for some catching a wave and enjoying Noosa’s infamous surfing spots isn’t always easy.
The Disabled Surfers Association of Australia (DSAA) is calling for volunteers to help make surfing a reality for people who live with an impairment.
The Association is putting on a surfing event for people who want to experience the joy of catching a wave and anyone and everyone is encouraged to lend a helping hand.
Sunshine Coast branch President Tim Byrne said the half day event allows people with all kinds of impairments to truly become a part of the surfing lifestyle Noosa is famous for, but they need your help to make the day a success.
“There are jobs for all skills, not just people who can surf,” Tim said.
“We have all sorts of people who volunteer with us, from board riders to people from churches.”
The day starts at 8.30am on Saturday 28 February with the volunteer sign on and finishes with a barbecue for volunteers and surfers at noon.
