THANK you to Rebecca Brimlecombe who sent in this striking photo of a Pacific Baza. Rebecca said she “stalked” the beautiful bird to capture this unique shot.
“I was stalking the poor thing half the day until I got lucky and he landed on a low branch beside a raised garden,” she said.
Rebecca said the Pacific Baza was being “buzzed” by native miner birds, hence why he is fanning his wings.
“The harassment from smaller birds is well-deserved as nestlings or, in our case, whole broods of ducklings are easy prey for this strikingly-marked crested hawk,” she said.
