Boys wallowing in the mud

By JODIE BUSHBY

Under 7 White
The side finally got a game of footy in the mud. In unfamiliar conditions, the little fellas did their best in the cold and wet. As it was the last club fixture game this week, the Player of the Match was awarded to the whole team. Thanks Pirates, Mums and Dads for a terrific 2014 season. Hope to see you all back next year.

Birthday boy Hayden Anderson put his body on the line time after time, stopping Nambour’s fast-paced attack. Taj Brumley and Asher Anderson scored plenty of tries, but Jaxon Smith stole the show with the try of the season amid a bag full of tries for the day, which earned him Player of the Match.

The boys were still on their game in the rain with some great tries scored by Joh Dwyer, Josh Palmer, Roy Crozier, Lachlan Neville and Taj Egea. Some great running from Dylan Alchin, Cody Ried, Cohyn North and Jed Danton. There was some solid tackling from Jed, Roy, Josh, Joh, Taj and Dylan.

Great game for Under 9 blue against Maroochydore this week. Pouring rain and plenty of mud saw great runs from Mitch, Caleb and Ryan, with superb tackling by Ivan Sullivan and Erik Mahe. Pirates love the rain.

This week the boys travelled down to play Maroochydore. After the break and a talk by coach Isaac, the Pirate boys stormed home with a wet sail, finishing the game strongly and full of running, scoring three times in the last half.

Ashtyn was awarded Man of the Match. Both your coaches were very impressed today. Well played Antonio, Ashtyn, Cooper, Corben, Jackson, Kallen, Kynan, Larz, Luke, Ty and last but far from least Zane.

Continue to prove they listen at training and the two-man tackles were stopping Maroochydore every time. All the boys impressed the coach and fought hard in both games today, so every player was awarded Man of the Match. Thanks for a great game Ben U, Ben W, Curtis, Digger, Ethan, Harry, Jaxon, Ollie, Quinnie and Zak.
Under 11 Blue
The boys used the ball in attack to start the scoring followed by two great tries off pinpoint kicks, all to Man of the Match Diel Musgrove coming away with a hat-trick. The defence was once again outstanding with big efforts from Jack O’Connell and Jack Ritchie.
Under 11 Gold
The side made the trip to Caboolture with only 12 men. Valiant effort boys, very proud of you all. Special mention to Francis, Locky, the two Kades, Trev and the Man of the Match Hayden. Tries to Kade, Francis and a double to Jacko. One conversion to Locky.

Lachie Turner’s comeback was short lived, re-injuring himself early in the game and the in-form Sean Rodger suffering a serious shoulder injury meant the side was reduced to the bare 13. Will Barrett was strong in defence and Travis Garahy again showed why he is one of the big improvers this year with more of his now trademark bullocking runs.

A great game against Bribie this week. Corey Mackenzie finished with three tries; Toby Burton and Chase McChesney with one try each. Man of the Match went to two of the boys, Liam O’Hanlon with great defence and Luke Rogers who played his best this year.
Under 14A
Noosa U14 Gold came up against Gympie this week in very wet conditions. Tries went to Bailey, Cecil, Mason, Jack Giles, Jack Davies, and Blake which made for a good solid team win. Man of the Match this week went to Maconachy Smith.
Under 14B
The biggest halves pairing in the comp, “Cooper” Delbridge and “Wally the King” Fredericks, steered us around the park like they had been born to be generals. “GI” Freeman was devastating from the back with blinding pace and sublime positional play. Our athletic and rangy back row of Will “Gillett”, “Aiden” Bailey and “Jhy” Thaiday threatened Kawana’s edges mercilessly. It was also great to welcome back “Darius” Jarvis from his stint in rehab.
Under 15
The U15s travelled to Nambour for this week’s game. It was a must win for the Noosa boys to keep a finals berth alive. With Nambour up at 18-0, the boys kept putting in and were rewarded with a late try with the score finishing 18-4.
