Seniors put on your dance shoes

Seniors get ready for the dance class.

Imagine a room of over 100 seniors in top hats learning a seated Broadway dance routine to New York New York and then performing it with pizzazz.
That was the finale of last year’s Noosa’s Biggest Seated Dance Class, and now once again an invitation is extended to the seniors of Noosa to join the fun at this special Seniors Week event and experience the joy of seated dance.
The free event is being presented by Noosa-based RIPE Dance.
Director Gail Hewton, who specialises in teaching dance to older groups, will lead participants through a 60-minute dance session that will include a warm up, several simple dance sequences choreographed to a variety of wonderful and familiar songs, finishing with a relaxing cool down – all seated in the safety of a chair.
“The moves are easy to follow, with a variety of dance steps, styles and routines to great music done in a fun, safe and supportive environment. People are always surprised by what they can do, even if they think they can’t dance – it’s about possibilities not limitations.” she said.
Noosa’s Biggest Seated Dance Class is free and will be held on Monday 28 August from 10.30am-noon at The J. For more information, phone Gail on 0411 720 391 or email ripedance@gmail.com
