Time to kick your heels up

THE Noosa Long Weekend is back and is set to be a cultural feast with music, dance, theatre and so much more on the menu.
Set to kick off on 18 July and run until 27 July, this year’s Noosa Long Weekend program will feature highlights such as an Evening of Dance as presented by Queensland Ballet, Rhonda Burchmore’s Red, Hot and Saucy show, plus the Queensland premiere of Go Your Own Way, the story of Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie.
Festival director Ian MacKeller said it was great to once again offer world-class performances from the likes of cabaret performer Catherine Alcorn, soprano opera singer and actress Ali McGregor along with a host of other well-known performers.
“It’s a real coup to have these talented performers involved in this year’s festival and we’re looking forward to announcing more high-profile acts as we move closer to the event,” he said.
“The Noosa Long Weekend festival has developed a reputation across Queensland and beyond as one of the country’s foremost regional cultural events, having attracted well-renowned Australian and international performers, writers, film-makers, musicians, artists, chefs, environmentalists and commentators, since its inception in 2002.”
Proudly supported by Bendigo Bank, Mr MacKeller promises there are “plenty of surprises up our sleeves”.
Tickets to eight selected events are on sale now and are available from www.noosalongweekend.com or visit The J Box Office at The J, Noosa Junction, with a second wave of ticket sales available from 3 June.
Mr MacKeller said the two-stage ticket release had been designed to help event goers plan their festival experience as well as ease historical “ticket sale traffic jam” that can occur when the full program is released.
