Possible candidates can find out what it takes to contest the elections due to be held on Saturday 19 March next year.
Stephen Johnston, the deputy director-general of Local Government and Regional Services from the Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, said department officers will conduct free information seminars for intending candidates throughout the state.
“Public office can be rewarding for those who are dedicated to their community but it can also be challenging,” Mr Johnston said.
“Before you nominate for the position of councillor or mayor, you should have a clear idea of what’s involved. Our department officers are there to guide you.”
The “So You Want To Be A Councillor” sessions began on 1 October in Esk with around 90 to be conducted across Queensland.
Noosa will have its turn on 26 November, at 5.30pm, at Ivory Palms Resort, 73 Hilton Terrace, Noosaville.
Anyone interested in running for their council is urged to get along.
The seminars will explain the nomination process including eligibility as well as outlining what is expected of elected officials in terms of their responsibilities and behaviour.
“Ratepayers deserve the best representation possible on their council and these seminars will provide valuable information for anyone considering nominating for election.”
Nominations for the positions of councillors and mayors close on 16 February.
