Disney theme for golden carols

LAST year more than 5000 people packed the Peregian Beach park for the Lions Club of Peregian Christmas carols, and this year promises to be even bigger and better.
The Lions Club of Peregian is proud to present a night of magic and wonder with the Once Upon a Christmas Carol musical performance, starring the Doo Wop Dolls.
The Disney-themed night has been carefully choreographed by local music director Melissa Isles. A fireworks display is set to light up the night sky.
Santa will also make an appearance for all good girls and boys in what is now the Carol’s 50th year.
But none of this will be possible without a host of local and business sponsors to help the Lions Club of Peregian make a magical night come true for local children.
The Lions Club of Peregian is calling for sponsors to help support the event and make the night possible.
Believed to cost almost $20,000 to stage the carols, the Peregian Lions Club said they needed all the help they could get from local businesses who wanted to help support such a great community event.
“As a professional event, we have to hire stage, sound, lighting, buy fireworks, right down to the port-a-loos,” event organisers said.
“Last year, it cost around $19,000 and that is too much of an outlay for a service club like ours.”
Event organisers said sponsoring the Christmas carols was a great opportunity for local businesses to be involved with the community, plus advertise their logo and business to over 5000 locals.
Anyone who would like to help support this fantastic community event can contact Sharon Stevens on 0417 227 254 or email Sharon.stevens@westnet.com.au or peregianlions@hotmail.com.
The Lions Club of Peregian’s Once Upon a Christmas Carol will be held at the Peregian Beach park next to the Surf Life Saving Club on Monday 21 December from 6.30pm.
Entry to the event is by a gold coin donation and a no-alcohol policy applies for the family-friendly event.
