THIS healthy male Koala dropped in for a few days in Tewantin bushland beside Peter Whittington’s property.
The visitor slept it off during the day but became a bit more animated at dusk and climbed to higher branches to have a feed.
Mr Whittington sent the information through to Koala Watch which informed him that the koala was new to the area.
Koala Watch said Mr Whittington and his family could name the koala if they wished and with the help of his grandchildren it was decided to name the visitor Eucy – short for eucalyptus.
A sniffer dog named Baxter and his handler Daniel from Sunshine Coast University came out to the site and collected fresh scat for analysis.
