Bolton stays upbeat

TRUE to form, former councillor Sandy Bolton has graciously accepted defeat, congratulating the community and fellow council candidates on a “wonderful election”.
“Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful election and a celebration of our community spirit and diversity, and from what I have been told, history making in more ways than one,” she said.
Ms Bolton wished Mr Wellington well in his new role and congratulated fellow mayoral candidate Ray Kelly saying “what an incredible and memorable journey for our families and friends”.
“To my team and supporters and to fellow candidates and their supporters, thankyou so very, very much for your friendship and good times,” she said.
“I am truly proud of our efforts towards election ‘best practice’ and that with your assistance we have set a new standard by promoting a ‘zero tolerance’ to poor behaviour and nasty tactics during campaigns and at all times.”
Ms Bolton said members of the community, media and representatives in all levels of government had an opportunity to lead by example to achieve “true unity and sustainability”.
In a heartfelt statement to Noosa Today, Ms Bolton also said farewell to the re-elected fellow councillors and council staff who she said she would miss.
“I will miss you and our laughs, the teamwork, excellent debates and challenging times,” she said.
“To our new councillors, may you love your new role as much I have over the past two years, and that you enjoy the diversity of thought and needs in our community and work hard for our people.
“To candidates who did not succeed this time; well done and celebrate! To nominate is an incredible achievement on its own, and only those that have ever stood for election would understand the strength, commitment and selflessness that it takes to do so.
“And finally to the inspirational people of Noosa; I look forward to continue working with you in achieving many good outcomes and achieving your vision for a vibrant, caring and sustainable community. Until then!”
