THE search is over for suitable Noosa-based premises in which to house the Noosa Men’s Shed organisation, after Unitywater came to the rescue.
The water company offered the Noosa Men’s Shed a rent-free home for the next decade with water bills taken care of.
Unitywater was left with two vacant buildings after consolidation field operations earlier this year, and the timing could not have been better.
Unitywater CEO George Theo said he was happy for the blokes to put the property to good use with no strings attached – aside from mowing the lawn.
Men’s group president Peter Magarry welcomed Unitywater’s offer of a free 10-year lease, which came with additional benefits.
“Because we are starting up from scratch, it will take us a while to establish a bank balance,” he said.
“We’re grateful that Unitywater won’t charge us for rent or water, and they are looking after our power bills for a good while.
“In return, we will keep the premises in good condition and the grass mowed.”
Noosa Men’s Shed was aided by Councillor Joe Jurisevic who was making inquiries to house the organisation.
Noosa’s Men’s Shed is part of the Australian organisation which works to connect men in their local areas to foster mateship, well-being and to share information.
