Gymkhana fun for Pomona Pony Club

More than 100 competitors are expected to take part in one of the area’s largest gymkhanas hosted by the Pomona Pony Club on 6 August.
Club executives, proud parents and gymkhana co-ordinators, Cameron and Cathy Magick, said the gymkhana will consist of fourteen age groups.
“Each of those age groups will be competing in 10 events with ribbons to sixth place in each event, and overall point trophies to fourth place in each age group,” Cathy said.
“In addition to our competitive fourteen age groups, we have a non-competitive led and beginner group for those riders not yet competent enough to ride with speed and participate against their experienced counterparts.”
To encourage each individual’s riding ability, every led and beginner rider will receive a ribbon for every event they complete and a trophy at the end of the day.
Located within the Pomona Showgrounds, the not-for-profit club has about 50 members with most of their support coming from parents and instructors who give their energy and time freely.
The pony club received a welcome boost of $1000 from the Pomona Community Bank branch of Bendigo Bank last week and there will be more fundraising at the gymkhana.
Cathy said when everyone gets hungry on 6 August there will be delicious food available all day from the canteen including Pomona Pony Club’s famous ’Cameron Burger’.
For more information phone Cathy on 0429 851 850.
